23/06/2017 - De Fursac

Artistic director of the De Fursac house since 2012, Alix Le Naour strives, season after season, to inject her own vision of men's apparel in her collections. Working proportions and associations in subtlety, reworking the great classics of the male wardrobe with modernity, this quiet young woman of Parisian chic, preaches an everyday elegance "à la française".

Resolutely intemporal and lasting, her artistic approach tends to spark the desire in men to "dress up" again.

What inspired you ultimately?

A serie of pictures of Irving Penn that I saw at the Metropolitan Museum last week: "Small Trades", portraits in black and white of men in their work clothes, all of them giving off incredible allure and charisma.

Please describe your SS17 collection in three words:

Solar, chic, precise.

What is your favorite trend of the season?

Frankly speaking, I give it little value in my work, even though they obviously surround me in my everyday life... If I had to give an answer, I am glad to see the tailored collar shirt make a comeback.

What is your favorite piece from your last collection and why?

It is probably the midnight blue tuxedo in wool, mohair and silk (cf. picture). I love the proportions of its collar, its color and flexibility. Sometimes, I even happen to wear it.

What is your favorite material to work with?

A wool gabardine, very thick, but that has to stay flexible according to me: a man looks always better when he is comfortable in his clothes...

The movie that speaks most to your aesthetic?

It is hard to name only one... La Dolce Vita, Pierrot le Fou and The Godfather.

If you could live in any era, which one would you choose and why?

Our era, even though it lacks sometimes a little panache when it comes to allure, I have to say! You only have to look at our family albums to realize it.

If only one man only could wear your collection for eternity, who would you want it to be?

Definitely my husband.

Who is the De Fursac man in one sentence?

I think he is humble and haughty at the same time.
