Multiculturalism is the key to Tara Zadeh's work and inspirations. Originally from Iran, Zadeh was born in the United-States, grew up in Paris, then returned to the US to study at Parsons New York before launching her eponymous brand. Greatly influenced by Iran, the designer creates bags characterised by geometric designs and vibrant colours. Her appreciation of fashion was born in Paris, but she finds inspiration in markets around the world where she discovers aesthetic details of local cultures. Designed in London and produced by craftsmen in Spain, Zadeh's creations are unique and are the embodiment of her multicultural DNA.

Which artist(s) inspire you the most?

My uncle YZ Kami. His work and his personality. He always taught me that the key to success is work work work!

Describe your Spring/Summer 2018 collection in three words:

Fresh, sleek, oriental.

What is your biggest source of inspiration?

Travelling!

What do you think are the main stakes and challenges for the young designers?

Stay true to yourself and your identity. It is important for me to be recognized as an Iranian designer, I want to represent Iranian woman through the creativity of my designs.

Where's the last place you traveled that inspired you?

Shiraz, Iran. It is the city of sophistication that has been celebrated as the heartland of Persian culture. I love it there, the gardens, palaces, and mosques are breathtaking. Every little detail catches my eye.

Which was your favorite piece from your latest collection, and why?

The azar clutch (the round bag) in coral red. It's such a statement piece and so easy to wear. I am obsessed!

Which women inspire you the most?

My mother Ameneh Youssefzadeh, Nahal Tajadod and Golshifteh Farahani.

The film that speaks most to your aesthetic?

La Grande Bellezza by Paolo Sorrentino.

If you could live in any era, which one would you choose?

The 80s in New York City, I would have ruled the world haha

Or the 60s/70s in Tehran, my parents had a blast!

Please describe the Tara Zadeh woman in three words:
