Campaign / Fashion house - 6/16/19

Photographed by Steven Meisel, LOEWE’s new campaign captures the 25 year old British actor in a moment of introspection before going on stage. A celebration of drama’s mysteries, Heaton is depicted wearing an ankle-length white tank top and cotton poplin shorts as he observes his reflection in a mirror, his smeared lipstick imbuing an element of ambiguity as to the character he is about to become.
In keeping with LOEWE creative director Jonathan Anderson’s collaborations with Meisel and creative agency M/M (Paris), the new campaign is released as a trilogy, with the portrait of Heaton accompanied by a photograph of a tattooed fist grasping a grassy clump of earth against a grey background in the centre of the frame. Taken from a new series titled A Show of Hands to be released later in the year, the image improvises upon a symbol of protest for today’s turbulent times.
Completing the triptych is a still life image debuting Spring/Summer 2020’s new Grand Puzzle Bag. Handcrafted in Spain from calfskin leather, the new edition of the Puzzle is characterised by bold rugby stripes; both a nod to Jonathan Anderson’s family legacy, and an homage to the iconography of this most earthly of sports.
