BALENCIAGA OBJECTS - TIGER SCULPTURE

BALENCIAGA OBJECTS - TIGER SCULPTURE

New products / Fashion house - 1/24/22

Balenciaga’s newest addition to its Objects line is a limited-edition original sculpture depicting a tiger designed by Shanghai-based artist Nik Kosmas. Kosmas’ multimedia work is inspired by science fiction, sports practice, and psychology. He has exhibited at the New Museum New York, the 9th Berlin Biennale, and elsewhere.

The Tiger Sculpture’s body appears futuristically mechanical, evoking the efficiency and elegance of industrial engineering as well as the natural grace and precision of living cats. This Object is a brass masterwork made entirely by hand. It is defined by its meticulous details, including individual whiskers, vertebrae-like tail sections, and a Balenciaga logo on the crown of the character’s head.

Only 15 numbered editions will be produced worldwide. Each one is made from individual components that are shaped using a lost wax technique. Its parts are assembled, welded together, powder-coated, and semi-glossed manually. The sculpture stands on a flat, 38 x 27cm display platform.

Balenciaga Objects are produced outside of the fashion collections calendar, launched individually. They range from limited-edition objets d’art to practical, everyday items, all of them timeless.
