Gucci and Comme des Garçons are pleased to announce the latest shopper resulting from their partnership. Bringing creative contamination to the fore, the limited-edition tote represents the perfect embodiment of mutually distinctive aesthetics driven by the desire to explore innovative visions. The ultimate result is a unique series of bags blending the signs and the codes of the two Houses, now making their third drop.
In keeping with the previous editions, the new tote features the classic Comme des Garçons shopper style personalised with Gucci’s signature vertical green-red-green Web stripe. The see-through outer “shell” acquires a new dimension adapting to the paper “inner”, natural brown and with a printed floral motif for the first two editions, now presented in black closing the circle of this experimental process.
The Comme des Garçons logo, printed in white, catches the eye against the black surface interrupted only by Gucci’s storied Web running vertically along the length of the accessory.
The ribbon is fastened only at the top and the bottom of the bag conveying the impression of an artisanal decorative feature. This bold detail, that recalls the Maison’s equestrian history, sits in juxtaposition with the shopper’s contemporary, minimal appearance. Made in Japan, the new shopper is a characterful everyday basic that successfully blends clean industrial design with poetic embellishment.
Gucci will drop the limited-edition tote on October 15 th exclusively on vault.gucci.com, the House’s newly launched online concept store combining the old and the new, evoking the search for ideas that go beyond the confines of time and space – presenting Gucci’s restored and customised archive pieces alongside the creations of emerging designers through a poetic and coherent editorial format.
The new bag will also be available in selected CDG stores worldwide and at the Dover Street Market Ginza, London, New York, Los Angeles, Beijing and Singapore, as well as the
DSM E-Shop.
It will come in dedicated packaging: wrapped in green tissue paper, in a black box featuring the Comme des Garçons logo in white and the Gucci logo in black.
