Cultura / Casa - 9/29/22

On the occasion of the sale of works by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne – organized by Sotheby’s in Paris on November 3 – Dior is presenting at 30 Montaigne, from September 26 to October 9, a preview of more than twenty exceptional sculptures* from the collection of their daughter, Dorothée Lalanne.

This event pays tribute to the first profession of Monsieur Dior who, prior to being a couturier, was a gallery owner and art collector with a passion for the avant-garde.

In 1957, he met the Lalanne couple. Thus began the story uniting their names with that of the House, which then commissioned fabulous decors for the boutique inaugurated by the founding couturier in 1955, at the corner of Avenue Montaigne and Rue François-Ier. These creative ties continued to be woven over the years, as in 2007, when Claude Lalanne created a decorative body of work for the emblematic addresses of Dior. For the Dior spring-summer 2017 haute couture show, Maria Grazia Chiuri also invited Claude Lalanne to dream up the jewelry of the collection. In 2021, thanks to Dior’s patronage, the large-scale exhibition Les Lalanne à Trianon revealed the work of the sculptors in the gardens of the Château de Versailles.

Marking a new chapter, 30 Montaigne is giving pride of place to these two French artists. The setting for this preview, the House’s iconic address, reinvented in 2022, is the ideal location for welcoming visitors into their  dreamlike universe. A celebration of creative passion in all its forms.
