This Milan Men’s Fashion Week opens on Friday 10 January with shows by Dsquared2, who will be celebrating their 25th anniversary with an event at 10.30 pm, and Ermenegildo Zegna.
Making a comeback to Milano Moda Uomo are Gucci, who will be closing the shows on Tuesday 14 at 12.30 pm, Iceberg, Miaoran, MSGM, N.21, Prada and Salvatore Ferragamo. Making their debut on the runways, on the other hand, are Fabio Quaranta, whose show is being supported by CNMI, Danish Han Kjøbenhavn and Chinese Reshake. Also supported by CNMI, Numero 00, Miaoran, Magliano and David Catalan will be showing.
First time presentations include Philippe Model Paris, Piacenza Cashmere, KB Hong, United Standard, Marinella, Matchless London, B+Plus e Chorustyle while Harmont & Blaine return with a presentation.
This year too, a number of brands have chosen Milano Moda Uomo to do co- ed shows: Dsquared2, Neil Barrett, Marcelo Burlon County of Milan, Han Kjøbenhavn, Spyder and Sunnei.
For this edition of Milano Moda Uomo, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana in collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese and the support of the Italian Economic Development Ministry and the Foreign Trade Agency, which promotes the internationalization of Italian companies abroad, will present a project that has the purpose of enhancing the Milan’s Men Fashion Week.
This project envisages various initiatives that will take place with the twofold purpose of presenting Milan and Italy internationally as a fashion production centre, while highlighting small and medium-sized Italian businesses and publicising worldwide our national know-how; and of adding value to the Italian offer for Men’s Fashion, which will start in Florence at Pitti and will continue in Milan with the Fashion Week.
The various initiatives on the calendar include a collaboration between Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and the British Fashion Council (BFC) that will bring a part of the London Fashion Week to Milan.
In another initiative, LONDON show ROOMS will be occupying Spazio Savona 56 to feature the collections of 10 UK and 5 Italian emerging designers. Among the protagonists in this project there will also be some Italian students studying at prestige UK fashion schools, thus highlighting the powerful synergy between the Italian and UK fashion education systems.
The LONDON show ROOMS space will also be exhibiting an art installation curated by The Mill and produced by YouConcept, in which new fashion trends are seen through images focusing on diversity, energy and the talent of young designers. After the event, this digital installation will be available to the public in order to involve the city in the world of fashion. Spazio Savona 56 will be presented to the media and buyers with a preview on Saturday 11 January, at midday, and opened in the evening of the same day with a cocktail party at 7pm.
Other events in the city include, on 13 January, a show by the winner of the BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund & NEWGEN, A-COLD-WALL at Palazzo del Ghiaccio.
Within the framework of CNMI’s collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese and with support from the Italian Economic Development Ministry and Foreign Trade Agency, there will be a fashion show by Marco De Vincenzo.
The numerous brands from all over the world on the calendar will include presentations by Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen, the latter returning to the Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
“We are very pleased about this year’s collaboration with the BFC and Confartigianato Imprese and are very grateful about the support of MISE and ICE. The collaboration between CNMI and BFC is a precious opportunity for both of us to establish a bridge between our cultures and to create a lasting relationship that will surely be enriching for all parties involved. Particularly I would like to thank Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of BFC, with whom, in the last years we collaborated in a fruitful and intense manner, sharing visions, values and opportunities for the fashion system. This project will give CNMI the opportunity to expand our borders and to make Milan’s Men Fashion Week even more international. Having the chance to host international-becoming stylists in Milan is an honour for us and we are happy to prove we are up to this task. We hope that the possibility to observe and get to know the promising students that will arrive from the United Kingdom will allow everyone to have a peek at what the new generations are developing and will give us insights on future trends. As CNMI we are very looking forward to embrace the international audience to Milan and to make everyone feel welcome during Milan’s Men Fashion Week. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Stefano Martinetto, Chief Executive and co-Founder of Tomorrow London LTD, who by being coherent to his mission to support entrepreneurial creativity carried out the important connection between CNMI and BFC.”, commented Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
For this Fashion Week as well, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and Yes Milano have realised an important communication campaign, that will be released starting from the beginning of January through bill-postings and screens. The campaign, which was shot by Stefano Guindani, sees a look by Luca Magliano as a protagonist. For this our thanks goes to Fujiflm Italia.
This Milan Fashion Week can be enjoyed live on our website, cameramoda.it, which provides streaming of the fashion shows, videos and photo-galleries of the collections, also available on the CNMI app and our social profiles (Twitter, Instagram (@cameramoda) and Facebook), with real-time updates on the various events
