The Fall-Winter 2020 Versace Jeans Couture Collection will be showcased through a unique project called “Vision For The Future”.
There’s a general sense of optimism as to how the current pandemic can profoundly reshape our societies for the better. Ones where love and the collective are at the forefront. Beyond the tragedy and the hardships, the power of collective unity has been felt more than ever, with a general need for connection, togetherness and solidarity. In the face of these unprecedented times, Versace Jeans Couture enlists a series of multimedia artists to explore through the medium of their choice their vision for the future. The brand chose the next generation of trailblazing creatives to make social content, exploring themes such as love, unity and togetherness in a playful and optimistic way.

The first series will be launched on July 2nd, 2020 on Versace.com https://www.versace.com/it/it-it/jeans-couture/vision-for-the-future/

Jason Yan Francis Bio | @jaon_yan_francis
Jason is a French director and photographer based in Paris. From a video shot exclusively in the POV of the French Navy or a skateboarding film edited backwards, Jason uses his strong technical skills to create visual tricks that capture the viewer’s attention, using various techniques and media. Playing with unique camera movements, editing tricks, hand-made animations, and collages, has enabled him to develop a unique graphic style paired with meaningful visual narratives.

Jason’s Vision
For this series of multimedia collages, I wanted to illustrate how younger generations are brought together by creativity. It’s their DIY, relentless, do-er's spirit that I wanted to portray. I decided to focus on creativity at home, and captured Lilian and Hannah, two people who I believe are cultivating real creative lifestyles. Both are passionate about various art forms - from sewing, drawing and dancing to make-up and writing. Even though they’re strangers to each other, I wanted to make them meet virtually through my collages. I collaborated with them at each of their homes, building DIY sets, and overall wanted to show that anything’s possible with creativity and optimism. Through my work I wish to encourage people to express themselves without fear of judgement, of making something that’s not perfect. Because as long as you have your point of view, as long as you’re making things, that’s what truly matters.

Alex Black Bio | @alexblackstudio
Alex Black is a director and photographer originally from Montreal living between New York and Montreal. She sees the photography process as a way of making a painting or a sculpture. Inspiration is drawn from the visual language of abstract art to create representations that exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. In there lies a tension between abstraction and figuration. Fashion is used as a tool for itsshapes, colors and forms, to achieve an effect and are usually simplified or schematized. Through a series of sensorial and abstract mood film pieces, Alex Black captures a succession of voicemails between two friends talking about the present, past and future as they go about their longing for warm and dreamy summer days. A poetic exploration of friendship and summertime.

Alex’s Vision
It’s difficult to envision a future that has so much uncertainty. The air is heavy with tension, you can feel the weight of the crisis on your shoulders. But we adapt, we stay resilient and optimistic. The break from our fast-paced lifestyle created space to look inwards, reconnect with our innermost desires and find joy in the simple things within reach. We stay connected across time zones in meaningful ways even if it’s not physical. This video piece was inspired by these new ways of communicating with loved ones, as we found ourselves scattered across the globe. It recounts the passing of time and how change is a constant by reflecting on the past, present and future. In their nostalgia, two friends make plans for the future as they take in summer’s first breath. Our interconnection has been a source of light in these dark times. A sense of unity and community is key as we are all in this together, even when apart.

Paul Herrmann Bio | @paulherrmnn
Born and raised in a small village close to Frankfurt, Germany, 21-year-old self-taught director Paul Herrmann has roots in skateboarding, where he made his first steps into the world of filming. Mainly shooting film and mixed media formats, Paul developed a strong visual language displaying and influencing youth culture. Paul loves to work outside boundaries and is interested in creating raw, honest and energetic content. In general, we are displaying the emotional journey our talent has- starting off with an empty, tired face to a fulfilled happy human.

Paul’s Vision
I saw this film as a chance to display a greener future. The viewer should question himself if we really need this fast pace at all times. I personally love every escape away from the city.
