An impeccable taste, an inimitable style and a strong business acumen are Laure Hériard Dubreuil’s assets. With an acute eye for discovering new talents, she is one of today’s fashion jury of the 32d Fashion and photography festival at Hyères. After working alongside Nicolas Ghesquière and Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent, the young French woman flew to Miami where she founded The Webster. More than a concept store, it is a true landmark where the pieces of the greatest Houses rub elbows with avant-garde designers as well as young talents. As an art lover, she set up her first boutique in an Art Déco building, where she has breathed a new life into the luxury sales in Miami.
How did you find your vocation?
It happened naturally. I am the eldest of four children, and I spent my life dressing my brothers and sisters, choosing clothes, shopping with them for their first day at school, and I chose all of their outfits .
Explain your job in one or two sentences:
I'm a curator. I discover young talents and at the same time I select pieces in the big luxury brands. I choose particular, unique, different pieces.

Why is it important in fashion today to cultivate savoir faire like Maison Lesage?
Because it gets lost. Today, I find that between fast fashion and everything that's happening through images and social networks, it is really important to continue this handcraft, to have these craftsmen who are trained. Young generations do not necessarily have interest in that, do not know the techniques, do not understand what is behind them. We are more accustomed to just see beautiful pictures without really understanding all the work behind them.
What do you look for in young talents?
I look for a very strong DNA, identity, personality, point of view. This is the most important thing for me. With great convictions, because I think that to succeed in this world, you really have to have your DNA, your identity. Today is the problem when designers are too diluted, or trying to please too many people or to match the demands of the market and they eventually get lost.

The embroidery.
What's the last thing you saw that inspired you?
Today I was inspired by everything I've seen..
Your Festival de Hyères crush:
It is very difficult there are many. What inspired me a lot is Vanessa Schindler. This technique, this material, is very inspiring. I'm a big fan of Gaetano Pesce and it reminds me of his work.
Which woma(e)n inspire(s) you the most?
My mother. The women around me but mostly my mother, my godmother, my grandmother. The women I grew up with.
If you could live in any era, when would you choose and why ?
The 70's. For the freedom.
