But who exactly is Elisa? The bag is named after Elisa Sednaoui, Christian Louboutin’s muse and ambassador but also a mother, model, actress, social entrepreneur and film director of Italian, Egyptian and French descent. Elisa is many women – A celebration of Christian’s love for the multifaceted aspect and plural expressions of femininity, reflected in the various forms imagined for this newest release.
Every single detail invokes the splendour of ancient Egypt, down to its twist lock clasp. Imagined as a mystical talisman, its lines echo the rounded rectangular contours of the pharaoh's cartouche. In keeping with Christian’s lifelong fascination with hieroglyphs, the iconic CL signature is reworked in the shape of a celestial disc. Endowed with an accordion pleat for greater versatility, the simple yet sophisticated architecture of the Elisa bag mirrors the proud lines of the Amon temple in Luxor, a place which Christian holds dear.
