Collaboration / Maison - 4/15/21
In 2021, ICICLE continues to celebrate fashion made with a caring approach to nature by teaming up with VEJA the ecological sneaker brand. Together, the two eco-minded brands — one Chinese, the other French — offer two new takes on the VEJA sneaker, made in keeping with ecological agriculture and organic sourcing practices. To mark this collaboration, ICICLE also designed a companion capsule of timeless, Earth-friendly clothes and accessories.
VEJA and ICICLE are two of a kind: Both pioneering brands conceived years before eco-conscious fashion became an industry byword, they each grew organically. In that spirit, they honor a philosophy of timeless design and leaving as light a footprint as possible on our planet. Above all, each has won a loyal following for the integrity and authenticity of their processes.
“This partnership with VEJA was simply self-evident, since everything we both do is born of respect for the planet. VEJA and ICICLE customers are highly informed and attuned to the values we share, because they too want to protect the Earth for future generations. These pure, essential pieces are designed to go anytime, anywhere, whether to the office or to the beach, and above all they combine consciousness with elegance, versatility and a subtle playfulness, so that people will love and wear them forever,” says Creative Director
Bénédicte Laloux.
At the heart of this crossover collection are two styles of sneaker by VEJA, the Campo and the Nova. VEJA’s Campo debuted in 2019, and is made from ChromeFree® leather, with recycled polyester linings and soles in Amazonian rubber. For ICICLE, the Campo appears in off-white and beige, recalling the signatures at the heart of its ethos. The Nova, in jute, recycled cotton and polyester for the upper, and Amazonian rubber for the soles, is a natural extension of ICICLE’s love for materials such as linen and hemp. Both styles sport
the VEJA ‘V’ as well as the ICICLE logo, which appears on the tongue and on the heel of the shoe. All components are sustainably sourced, from 100% ChromeFree® leather and REACH protocol tanning methods to organic cotton sourced from small producers in Brazil and Peru, recycled polyester, and rubber produced in the Amazon region.
Silhouettes, designed by ICICLE, focus on easy, essential looks. For her: a safari-inspired linen jumpsuit, a sleeveless day dress with a linen bodice and knife-pleated silk skirt, a crisp yet breezy jacket, tapered trousers in organic denim, tailored linen shorts, a supple, slightly sheer cashmere sweater, and a zero-dye, 100% cotton t-shirt. For him: a slim-cut flax beige jacket and trousers in 100% linen, tailored organic denim shorts and trousers, and a zero-dye,100% cotton t-shirt. Simple, timeless and travel-friendly accessories — a carryall in zero-dye canvas and calf leather and a bucket hat in eco-friendly, plant-dyed denim —complete the capsule.
To convey the spirit of VEJA x ICICLE, Marion Barbeau and Simon Le Borgne, ballet dancers at the Opera de Paris and the founders of the independent dance company Alt.Take, take to the streets of Paris. Dressed in ensembles from the collection, they express a carefree joyfulness as they perform a choreography inspired by the legendary Pina Bausch in short videos shot by videographer Théodore Hugonner. Still photographs were lensed by the British photographer Scott Trindle.
The VEJA x ICICLE collection will debut on social media platforms and in stores on April 15th, 2021.
