CHANEL partners with Politecnico di Milano

Collaboration / Maison - 6/8/22

CHANEL and the Politecnico di Milano University have signed a partnership in line with the sustainable transformation of the House activities, that was initiated several years ago.
This partnership is a response to several major challenges for CHANEL. It aims to use Politecnico's expertise to model new methods that take into account the rapid and profound changes in luxury manufacturing activities. It also seeksto support and accelerate innovation, research and development of more sustainable materials and production processes in categories essential to the House's activity. The direction of these applied research activities, in close collaboration with the expert researchers at the Politecnico di Milano, will enrich the academic corpus of the university. At the same time CHANEL will implement recruitment, talent development and continuous training initiatives for its collaborators.
Politecnico di Milano is the leading public science and technology university in Italy, specialising in engineering, architecture and design, with 47,000 Italian and international students. CHANEL is proud to be associated with this prestigious institution, which corresponds with other partnerships undertaken by the House on the issues of savoir-faire and sustainability.
Today Italy plays a major role in CHANEL's manufacturing activities. Since the acquisition of the Italian shoe manufacturer Roveda in 1999, CHANEL has acquired eight more companies specialising in footwear, leather goods, tanning and textiles, all of which are vital partners in the making of its collections.
This announcement follows the CHANEL 2021/22 Métiers d'art show, which took place on Tuesday June 7th 2022 in Florence. First unveiled in Paris in December 2021, the collection was presented once again to a new audience of journalists, clients and celebrities close to the House, as well as some 240 students from Politecnico and other Italian schools specialising in fashion and design. The same morning, a masterclass with Bruno Pavlovsky surrounded by friends of the House, was also organised at the Camera di Commercio in Florence in the presence of the students.
Through this partnership with Politecnico di Milano, CHANEL is strengthening its position on the Italian industrial landscape while reaffirming its commitment to international academic institutions of excellence.
