Jean Paul Gaultier unfolds its summer districts, between eurotrash, sea- side boutiques and inspirations mixing the polished sexiness of the 2000s with the cult prints of 1994. True to its identity, its line of conduct, the House of Jean Paul Gaultier pays tribute to its iconic archives.

GAULTIER UNDER THE SUN
Celebrating the Spring-Summer 1994 show “Les Tatouages”, the banknote print makes its comeback with a 2022 version. Stretched, re-edited, recomposed, the banknotes are there to impress and present three new prints. The palmtree version creates a vintage incursion into fluid pareos and Hawaiian-inspired shirts. Last but not least, the multicolored version is the mashup of iconic international bills of 1994. Reviewed and corrected, it allows printed jerseys and stretch tulles to give the im- pression of a tattoo on naked skin.
The whole collection celebrates the summer breeze and sunny times : pareos that can roll up as dresses or wrap around as skirts, denim with corset stitching and let’s not forget the classic marnière knitwear with a modern twist.
Denim is raw, dry, ultra western with its sexy low waist and corseted seams, but also giving trompe-l’oeil. On a fresh silk twill, the hand-painted fabric makes each piece a unique model that has only the appearance of denim.
Knitwear lives in large widths. Thickly layered or finely twisted on the chest, it swings between a maximum boat neckline and a mini skirt to tie.
The tailoring, essential Gaultier, slips its summer score. In a first degree 1980’s version, a boyfriend jacket is mixed with maxi Bermuda shorts or falsely wise pants, with a lowered waist. In ultra cool wool, it glides over the skin and protects it from the sun’s bite.
Swimwear makes a new statement for Jean Paul Gaultier this summer, mixing thea- trical lacing of lingerie with neon materials and colors.
“Evidemment Jean Paul Gaultier” : In its deliberately digital typography, it dresses the inevitable jogging suits, cocooning sweaters, but also hairbands, briefs and swim- suits. Strass or glitter, it’s a gently vulgar vibe that blows on the codes of the House to shift them.
