Acne Studios teams up with Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, the iconic Paris department store, to celebrate the spirit
of collaboration with “Together is Better” – an initiative that promotes the work of young creatives.
Acne Studios invited young artists from two of Sweden’s most prominent art schools, Konstfack and Beckmans College
of Design, to enter a competition to reinterpret one of the iconic Acne Studios Musubi bags. The artists were asked to
demonstrate their artistic vision and innovation while aligning with the Acne Studios aesthetics and DNA.

The Musubi bag was first introduced at the Spring/Summer 2016 show and has been a significant style since.
The twisted knot detail is inspired by the obi sash of traditional Japanese dresses and characterises the design of the full range of bags in the Musubi family.

Overall, four finalists were chosen. The winner, Marcus Badman, presented a whimsical ‘inside-out’ interpretation,
placing the zipped inside pocket on the outside, and the dust bag on the inside. Fredrika Frykstrand chose to work with typography and lettering,
playing with the Acne Studios logo to create a pattern of logos. Focusing on the material itself,
Benedicte Eggesbo manipulated the leather to create new shapes, juxtaposing the clean design with the rawness of burnt leather.
Julia Correia de Verdier worked embroidery into her design, which were inspired by 17th century illustrations of nature and the country music scene, complete with piercings.

The four finalists will have their bags showcased at the Acne Studios pop-up in Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche
from February to April 2020. The bags will be sold in limited edition at selected Acne Studios stores and on acnestudios.com from 8 February.
