Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, in collaboration with the United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), has organized two international conferences to present the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2023 ceremony, which will be held on September 24th at La Scala Theater in Milan. 10 awards will be presented, two of which will involve the the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and The Bicester Collection with respectively The Ellen MacArthur Foundation Award for Circular Economy and The Bicester Collection Award for Emerging Designers. 

The awards will honor personalities and virtuous entities that have distinguished themselves in the field of sustainability, selected firstly by an Advisory Committee and then by an International Jury, composed of professionals and relevant figures in the field and chaired by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, represented by Andrew Morlet, Chief Executive Officer Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

During the international conferences, held in New York and London on July 12 and 19, respectively, the three finalists for The Bicester Collection Award for Emerging Designers were announced:

- SO-LE creates unique jewelry using recycled leather and brass sourced from Italian luxury brands and manufacturers. Their commitment to circular economy and sustainability is evident in their use of waste materials in all of their collections, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of their products. Their sustainable ethos extends throughout the company, from the sourcing of materials to the materials used for their first flagship store in Milan, with the intention of driving positive change in the industry, reflecting a strong philosophy that attracts conscious customers.


- Ahluwalia, since its launch in 2018, has won numerous awards and emerged as an industry pioneer and trailblazer committed to finding sustainable solutions to improve society and the planet. Using vintage, recycled, upcycled, and sustainable fabrics and garments, Ahluwalia creates design-driven garments but always made responsibly. The brand blends elements of Priya Ahluwalia's dual Indian-Nigerian heritage with her London roots. Through her brand, Priya supports the celebration of beauty and diversity of her heritage through thoughtful design while promoting the crucial values of equality, cultural diversity, and sustainability.

- Made For A Woman, is an innovative social entrepreneurship project that empowers women from vulnerable backgrounds and promotes women's craftsmanship in Madagascar. The brand was founded in 2019 by Eileen Akbaraly, a young Italian-Indian designer who grew up in Madagascar. Made For A Woman combines corporate social responsibility, slow fashion, and locally sourced certified raw materials, creating a scalable business model for other social entrepreneurship projects in developing countries (verified by the WFTO, World Fair Trade Organization since 2022) and raising awareness about environmental justice and women's rights. Made For A Woman employs over 350 local artisans, 92 percent of whom are women, providing them with a living wage and empowerment opportunities, including free health care, mental health support, social services, financial literacy, capacity building, and education for them and their families.

The Bicester Collection confirms its commitment to supporting creativity and emerging fashion talents through its renewed partnership with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana at the upcoming CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards, offering The Bicester Collection Award for Emerging Designers. The award, which will benefit three emerging sustainable designers, confirms The Bicester Collection's commitment to supporting talents and creating a positive social, economic and environmental impact. The Bicester Collection, a collection of 11 unique luxury shopping destinations in Europe and China, is proud to celebrate 20 years of this commitment, during which time it has offered mentorship programs, events, and pop-up boutiques to more than 100 emerging designers worldwide. The three finalists for The Bicester Collection Award for Emerging Designers 2023 will receive crucial support to grow their businesses, including access to The Bicester Collection's mentorship program and the opportunity to participate in the upcoming The Creative Spot. The winner will also have the opportunity to present during next year's Milan Fashion Week their creations as part of the Designers for the Planet project at the Fashion Hub of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
