Flourishing, transformative, freeing. The essence of elsewhere is distilled and uplifted for the Valentino Escape 2023 capsule collection. This season, the Maison links past with present, reimagining three iconic prints for an offering of staple pieces.

Valentino Escape 2023 is an invitation to wander through the archives and encounter emblematic pieces, repurposed for today. Inspired by the joy of discovery, each look is a means to explore with boundless vision. Atop weightless caftans, breathable mini dresses and beachwear, the Valentino
Animalier, Loop and Panther prints elevate easy vacation looks into memorable moments. Designed with leisure in mind, the selection of Valentino Garavani accessories includes studded wrap-up sandals, bold eyewear made with Akoni, and mainstay bags envisioned with the storied prints.

Starting out the offering, the Valentino Animalier makes an all-over nod to the power of animal print. First unveiled in 1967 and made iconic by the Fall/Winter 1987-88 campaign with Linda Evangelista shot by Steven Meisel, the jaguar print finds itself atop sheer coverups, flowing caftans and cutout bathing suits. The design has also been translated onto Valentino Garavani bags with contrasting white leather details, as well as Valentino Garavani VLogo Signature heels and flats, delivering a statement at varying heights.

For a slightly darker dialogue, the Escape 2023 collection looks to its Valentino Panther print. Steeped in the shadowy allure of the slinky animal, the print features a series of roaring black panthers and a touch of precious green jade. First revealed on a dress for the Haute Couture Fall/Winter 1967-68 collection, the panther became an instant icon after having been photographed on legendary model Veruschka by photographer Franco Rubartelli. That same year for the collection’s advertising campaign, photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri captured the Valentino Panther print, further catapulting it into the sartorial zeitgeist. For Valentino Escape 2023, the Maison has resignified the print on two-piece beach looks along with sequin-embroidered tops and off-the-shoulder dresses. As a nod to the sunny season, the Panther Print is also seen atop scarves and beach towels, rendering the Haute Couture print instantly wearable. To round out the selection, Valentino envisions a hypnotic take on a Maison classic. Donning the brand’s name in an entrancing circular design, the Valentino Loop print features a spectrum of vibrant hues that translates effortlessly on crop tops, shorts, dresses and clutches. Inspired by the 1971 Viva Valentino advertising campaign pattern, the design reaches back through time to reinforce the Maison’s penchant for powerful visual storytelling.

In addition to Valentino Garavani accessories donning the three statement prints, the Maison also looks to mainstay motifs to complete the capsule. Wrap-up Valentino Garavani Rockstud sandals make a nod to punk while still reflecting the laidback essence of vacation. Bags vary in size to offer daytime and evening dimensionality. True to the pleasant vacation atmosphere, Valentino Eyewear makes a notable mark on each look, with expertly crafted shapes envisioned with Akoni.

Sun-drenched days and breezy evenings abound as warmer months draw nearer. With Valentino’s Escape 2023 capsule collection, past meets present for an eye-catching offering. Discover the full selection in select Valentino boutiques and online from mid-May 2023.
