Paris, 1992. For his Spring-Summer collection, Azzedine Alaïa presents the Relax knitwear, a textile
innovation by Florentine spinner Lineapiù. Presented as the “Yarn of Serenity”, this material is designed to
ensure comfort, freedom to move, and well-being.
Paris, 2021. ALAÏA revives this relaxed and protective stretch fiber in an exclusive collection.
The Relax yarn is composed of 6% carbon fiber and 94% ENKA viscose made of FSC-certified cellulose, sourced from wood obtained through sustainable forestry. Thanks to its compressive qualities, the Relax knitwear creates an overall feeling of well-being. As a soft armor, this technical skin is a tribute to the expertise of the ALAÏA Maison.
A wardrobe of 10 pieces in black and garnet red, designed to hug, sheathe, enhance all body shapes, and accompany women in their movements. In keeping with the Maison, the line, highlighted by seams, is enriched with openwork and embroidered details. Brilliant masterful skill is reflected in the precision of the finishing touches, in this sophistication cherished by the artisans of the ALAÏA Maison. The cut is clean, pure.
The silhouette is sculpted, fitted. The body moves, protected by the garment. The woman expresses herself in all her strength and all her grace.
“A garment like a second skin, a suit of armor to express myself freely,” explains Letizia Galloni of the Opéra de Paris, who embodies this collection with Hajiba Fahmy, contemporary dancer and friend of the Maison. In front of the lens of Billy Ballard and the camera of Louis Evennou, these two free spirits create a dialogue, without words or filters, to the warm sound of Ya Man Hawa by Bedouin Burger.
To accompany the arrival of the Relax collection, as of the end of April, ALAÏA will launch, with Martine de Richeville, an unconditional of the Maison, a cabin dedicated to her signature “Body Remodelage" treatment in the ALAÏA boutique at 5 Rue de Marignan in Paris. Developed more than twenty years ago, this manual and natural technique is conceived to reconnect positively to the body.
The intelligence of the hand, the fusion of body and mind, the marriage of East and West, a philosophy shared by Martine de Richeville and ALAÏA.
