Why not close your eyes and get away from it all with a film, an image... Or a song? After a series of tributes to the world of the cinema, Roger Vivier delivers a declaration of love for music to herald its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The Maison presents Flooded, a musical short film with Floodland as its musical theme. This song is both composed and sung by the Maison’s Creative Director Gherardo Felloni, who formed a band for the occasion, the Wuthering Cats. As a teenager, Felloni attended the Conservatory of music and sang in tenor roles. He never lost his passion for music. “Sometimes all it takes is humming a few notes. And it sweeps us away to another world.”
We couldn’t sum up Flooded any better. The film, directed by Andrea Danese and inspired by the life of Gherardo Felloni, follows Theo, a solitary young boy. When the Floodland song rings out, a world of phantasmagoria opens up to him. The dreamlike music demonstrates that art is the best of all escape mechanisms. And that certain fabulous personalities can act as guides. Isabella Rossellini, the exceptional guest of Maison Roger Vivier, is one of those. A muse of both independent and mainstream films who has been photographed by the greatest artists, the exceptional actress has played both dramatic and comic roles that left an impression on spectators, including Gherardo Felloni. In Flooded, she plays a whimsical yet timelessly elegant icon, reflecting the image of the Maison itself. Her humor inspired the rest of the casting. Young Vassili Schneider, an up-and-coming star of the French cinema, plays the role of Theo. The rest of the actors share that same spicy sense of glamour: Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, Anna Cleveland, Anabelle Belmondo, Sandra Milo, Sveva Alviti and Pippo Franco.
Flooded is a showcase for the Spring/Summer 2022 collection and for its bold spirit. Like the high, gold-toned Vivier Gladiator Sandals, inspired by the Masque collection designed by Monsieur Roger Vivier in 1967. Gherardo Felloni reimagines these emblematic creations in metallic gold with two-toned crystals that adorn the straps and an oversized crystal buckle. Each crystal is carefully placed by hand, each leather strap cut with precision for this creation made with precise savoir faire. The collection walks a fine, precious line between antiquity and science fiction. The Viv' Choc bag is, once again, brought to center stage in a variety of materials and joyful colors. The Maison’s newest signature bag, the Viv’ Choc for this season showcases Gherardo’s creative freedom with its combination of different textures, fabrics and precious stones in a kaleidoscope of shades that give the bags the distinct impression of an artistic mural. Expertly hand crafted in Italy by the Maison’s artisans, the Viv’ Choc is a combination of tradition and innovation, in equal measure. Its newest permutations explore a broad spectrum of materials, patterns and designs, staying true to the Maison’s codes of creativity, rarity and exclusivity with the new jewel buckle at the center of each exquisite masterpiece. The pieces of jewelry worn by Isabella Rossellini assert cat designs. Like a reference to Duo des chats, Rossini’s mischievous opera aria that imitates cats meowing.
