Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) is a unique philanthropic initiative focused on scouting, funding and nurturing design talent across the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, while bringing global awareness to its burgeoning fashion industry.
Born out of the success of the Fashion Trust UK, Founder Tania Fares established the Fashion Trust Arabia in Summer 2018 alongside co-chair HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa, and under the patronage of Honourable Chair HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
The first initiative of its kind in the region, the FTA will continue its work into 2020, providing catalyst opportunities in the form of financial awards and strategic world class industry mentorship for MENA region design talent who are ready for the international market.
Judges & Advisory Board The inaugural prizes awarded in 2019 saw talent selected and judged by industry figures including Alexander Wang, Antoine Arnault, Diane Von Furstenberg, Giambattista Valli, Naomi Campbell, Natalie Massanet, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Oliver Rousteing, and Victoria Beckham amongst others.

This includes a yearlong buying mentorship with global luxury fashion destination MATCHESFASHION, with the 2019 winners stocked onsite from Spring 2020 and supported through social and editorial content. The FTA mentorship program has also provided the winning designers with opportunities to travel globally to New York and London for additional mentorship support from key industry leaders and press previews, including a forthcoming Press Day with MATCHES FASHION at 5 Carlos Place.

There is an additional new award for 2020, the Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award (Arab Fashion Design Graduates 2018-2019), which aims to focus attention on recent graduates with outstanding design talent and potential to kick start their career and business. The award is in honour of the late Franca Sozzani, in recognition of her commitment and support to talent in the MENA region.
The Applications for all five categories are open to MENA based designers only, until November 30th 2019 midnight. Submissions are through the Fashion Trust Arabia’s official website, where applicants can also see all criteria for entry: www.fashiontrustarabia.com

“I'm most excited about discovering new designers. I’m passionate about learning their stories, their inspirations and to see beautiful designs that truly represent our diverse and rich heritage. This initiative is necessary because it provides a platform that isn’t otherwise
available to enable young creatives from the MENA region to launch their careers and grow their businesses. It's time for ambitious, bright talents from the region to have their voices heard – and I'm thrilled that Fashion Trust Arabia can shine a light on talent from the Arab world” Tania Fares, Founder, Fashion Trust Arabia
