ALBERTA FERRETTI - AN EMOTIONAL VIDEO PAYS TRIBUTE TO VENICE

ALBERTA FERRETTI - AN EMOTIONAL VIDEO PAYS TRIBUTE TO VENICE

Events / Fashion house - 9/7/21

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 1600th anniversary since the foundation, Alberta Ferretti pays homage to the city of Venice, a unique place filled with culture, a gateway between the West and the East, and a true open-air museum, with a special event scheduled for Saturday 4th September in the prestigious setting of Ca’ Rezzonico, which hosts the Museum of 18th century Venice. The initiative takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Venice, which has expressly invited Alberta Ferretti to participate, and has the charitable purpose of supporting the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
Overlooking the Grand Canal in the Dorsoduro district, Ca’ Rezzonico is one of the most famous Venetian palaces: the ideal setting for a meeting between fashion and the unique culture of the place, its opulence resulting from unrepeatable craftsmanship. As if giving life to a painting by Pietro Longhi or a pastel by Rosalba Carriera, the courtyard of Ca' Rezzonico will come alive with a series of scenes, created by the young and visionary artist Matteo Paoletti Franzato, the protagonists of which are women cloaked in sumptuous clothes, made in collaboration with local excellences.
For this unique project, Alberta Ferretti has established a dialogue of craftsmanship and creativity with the historic Rubelli, a family business now in its fifth generation, engaged since 1889 in the production of fabrics characterized by careful historical research on the Venetian tradition: very light and marbled silk damasks, as well as textile transpositions of the embossed leathers typical of the local baroque. For the creation of blown glass jewels, on the other hand - flames, sinuous tongues, foliages and Venetian beads - the choice fell on Massimiliano Schiavon, heir to a family dedicated to glass making for six generations: an artist capable of shaping this iridescent and malleable material in infinite ways, giving it life.
Alberta Ferretti's passion for all of Italy has been expressed over the years through various tributes. The designer has always been linked to the city of Venice, to which she dedicated an entire collection in 2017.
This new initiative sublimates and glorifies the bond, combining fashion, culture, history in a collection of hieratic and sumptuous pieces, in which one can breathe the unique charm of Venetian preciousness. Cascades of fringes, velvet and lace inlays on tulle, sunray pleating, phytomorphic embroideries draw elongated and magical silhouettes, made graceful by capes full of mystery. Long dresses elevate the figure, opening into wide skirts, melting into skillful draping. Airy shirts worn with slender trousers add a seductive masculine note. In the last look, filigree embroidery reproduces in 3D on a long pleated fortuny dress the hands that friend and artist Lorenzo Quinn dedicated to the city of Venice. Nocturnal and metallic, the color palette is pervaded with light, woven into the fabrics and blended into the jewels, with rocaille scents that, rarefied, give the creations an ineffable aroma.
The event is included in the celebrations for the 1600th anniversary of the City Foundation with the collaboration of AVA, Associazione Veneziana Albergatori. It takes place on the days when Venice is at the center of world attention for the Biennale International Film Festival scheduled at the Venice Lido until 11 September.
