Culture / Events / Fashion house - 11/12/18

Milan, November 12th 2018 – Gucci is pleased to announce that on January 8th, to coincide with Pitti Uomo 95, the Period Rooms opened earlier this year, in June, with a tribute to Björk and the House’s collaboration with her, will host a new exhibition. The Period Rooms spaces are in the Gucci Garden, which is housed in the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia in Florence’s Piazza della Signoria.

Also in conjunction with Pitti Uomo 95, new wall paintings will be created in the areas that link the various floors in the Gucci Garden. Jayde Fish’s creation story and the imaginative phrases of Coco Capitán will give way to a series of new works created by two artists. These will both engage visitors and create a dialogue with windows that open onto Piazza della Signoria, creating a connection between these transitional spaces in the Gucci Garden and the ever-busy public space outside.

The Gucci Garden boutique will also feature a selection of clothing and other items bearing images by an artist working with the house for the first time.

The Gucci Garden, conceived by Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele, features exhibition spaces curated by critic and curator Maria Luisa Frisa, a restaurant helmed by three-star Michelin chef Massimo Bottura, and a store with one-of-a-kind collections.

The Gucci Garden Galleria is dedicated to the brand’s heritage and mythology, and displays items and documents presented through a contemporary lens. The space is curated as a living laboratory where visitors can observe the various elements that have combined over time to create the Gucci of today.

The new exhibitions will open with a private cocktail reception to coincide with Pitti Uomo 95, which begins on January 8th, 2019
