The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2019 recognises the shortlisted artists as having made fundamentally important contributions to the development of contemporary craft and spans ceramics, jewellery, textiles, woodwork, glass, metalwork, furniture, papercraft and lacquer. The Prize functions as a multigenerational snapshot of the utmost excellence in craft today.
In addition to LOEWE creative director Jonathan Anderson, the jury for the LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize 2019 included:

Benedetta Tagliabue, architect and Pritzker Prize jury member.

Wang Shu, architect and Pritzker Prize jury member.

Jennifer Lee, Winner of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2018, observer of this year’s prize said: ‘This year’s finalists prove that old traditions of making continue to surprise us and be radical and contemporary. The prize makes you inquisitive and opens youmind to new ways of making and working with materials.’
The LOEWE FOUNDATION launched the international annual LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize in 2016 to showcase and celebrate newness, excellence and artistic merit in modern craftsmanship. This year’s finalists were chosen by a panel of experts from over 2,500 submissions by artists representing more than 100 countries. The number of submissions rose by 44% demonstrating the growing significance and influence of the prize in creative communities at an international level.
