BORDEAUX
Isabel Marant opens the doors to her eponymous store in Bordeaux, on May 11th, 2020.
Located at 8 Place Puy Paulin, at the corner of Rue Guillaume Brochon, Isabel Marant unveils a 110 square meter space with a unique concept inspired by the 1970's, their irreverence, their retro pop aesthetic and the illustrious and subversive musicians of the time. Right in the heart of the old town, this gallery-boutique presents Isabel Marant feminine & masculine vestiaire alongside a selection of works by international designers.
Mirroring the artful sophistication and pioneering spirit that defines the French designer’s aesthetic, this concepthas been developed by Marant’s studio in close interaction with a group of talented young European designers and artisans. All sharing the same passion for contrasts, happy tensions and subtle imperfection creating a specific approach of an intimate luxury – a luxury that is personal.
Opened to the world, turned towards other horizons and other types of savoir-faire, Isabel welcomes in her cabinet de curiosités, mixing intriguing sculptures and pieces of design that remind her travel souvenirs. Snuggled up on a fluffy
Berber sofa surrounded by a forest of fiber porcelain, hand carved Oregon pine podiums and rocklike textured corked tables. Isabel Marant’s wardrobe seems to come from a suitcase that spills open to share its treasures. Roaming as if life were lived on the road.
Capturing the zeitgeist, in a creative and joyful spirit, Isabel plays with the space as she would play with her own clothes. Cutting out patches from the ceiling – as if they were dress patterns – or carving a wall with the shape of her iconic 90° earrings. Lucky charms, lucky clothes. Everything rolls, everything flows. Accessory walls get in and out, in a radiant game, playing with volumes, light and shadows. Obsessed with finishings, Isabel brings unexpected details and materials to her concept, spreading erosions and patina that express the raw edged and out of focus details she gives to her collections.
Say Isabel Marant, think Parisian flow. Having founded her label in ’94, she instantly became renowned for her pioneering and cosmopolitan spirit bringing self-affirmation and feel good effect to her dégaine. To do so, ever since her launch, she has been trying on each garment before it leaves her studio to ensure everything works in the everyday life of a real woman.
The designer, who opened her first boutique in Paris in the late nineties, will now have 52 stores open across the globe.
This new Bordeaux based location will house the main line, a selection of the casual and affordable Isabel Marant Etoile collection, her line of handbags and shoes as well as the man collection.
