Fashion house - 5/28/20
Designed in 1997 by Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Baguette bag broke the rules of the 90s minimalism. Characterized by the search for precious materials worked using new innovative techniques mixed with home craftsmanship, the Baguette represents the essence of FENDI: respect for the rules, creativity and savoir-faire embodying unique craft techniques, combined with the refinement of details, which have always been part of the DNA’s house.
Became the essential cult accessory of generations of cool and elegant women, the Baguette takes its name from the French baguette bread traditionally worn under the arm.
Since its creation, it has been slightly reworked and presented in a more contemporary design in a maxi, medium or mini version and more recently in Pico and Nano sizes. It can now be worn over the shoulder for a more fashionable attitude and no longer just on the shoulder as originally designed.
Recently, the Baguette bag has been used for men's collections with a shoulder strap or belt version.
The Baguette bag thus continues to evolve and transform while remaining faithful to its unique DNA, celebrating the dynamic elegance rooted in the FENDI identity ... from fur marquetry to braided straw, from exotic leather to wool knitting, Selleria leather denim, glass bead or sequin embroidery, including new leather embossed with the FF logo.
The Baguette bag has been seen on various celebrities over the years: Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Priyanka Chopra, Kate Bosworth, Cindy Bruna, Ashley Graham, Winnie Harlow … to name a few.
In 2019, a series of short films called #BaguetteFriendsForever were launched, featuring various protagonists: Sarah Jessica Parker, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, Peggy Gou and Hikari Mori, among others.
More than a fashion accessory, more than a cult object ... the Baguette bag stands out as a timeless symbol of creative sophistication and pure expression of the unlimited know-how of the Roman House.
