Collaboration / Fashion house - 9/23/20
Synthesizing the most familiar design elements of the two collaborators, Reebok’s trailblazing Instapump Fury from 1994, unites with Maison Margiela’s signature Tabi from 1988. The Tabi’s split-toed upper creates the foundation for the new shoe, which morphs with Reebok’s pump mechanism, an inflation technology originally developed one year after the Tabi in 1989. A small pump fills the patch wrapped around the upper, while an adjacent button deflates it. This transformative and functional element of the Tabi Instapump Fury
echoes those key to the philosophies of Maison Margiela.
The shoe releases in two versions:
• The Tabi Instapump Fury Lo – The flat is reminiscent of the sole design of the Retro Fit, the sneaker launched by Maison Margiela in 2018. The outsole and midsole are constructed from rubber and expansive foam across different color variations. For optimized flexibility and stability, a sheet of Hexalite is integrated in the sole.
• The Tabi Instapump Fury Hi – The 10cm heel version is an interpretation of the Instapump Fury’s sole design. Like the original Reebok sneaker, the outsole and midsole are constructed from rubber and expansive foam across different color variations. For optimized flexibility and stability, a sheet of Hexalite is integrated in the sole. On the heeled version, a Graphlite carbon shank connects the plateau and the heel of the sole.
Maison Margiela’s white stitch logo is featured on the back of the upper, while Reebok’s vector logo is embroidered on the heel. The Tabi Instapump Fury launches in four colorways for both the flat and heeled versions: all-black or all-white, and color renditions that pay homage to the OG Instapump Fury such as the yellow, black and red as well as the white, blue and red.
The Lo version retails for EUR 990 / £ 895 / $1150 / ¥ 154000 / HKD 10075 / W 1608975 / RMB 10075.
The Hi version retails for EUR 1250 / £ 1125 / $ 1490 / ¥ 198000 / HKD 12720 / W 2031710 / RMB 12720.
Available from September 23 on Reebok.com, MaisonMargiela.com and select Maison Margiela stores.
