CHANEL supports the restoration of La Maman et la Putain
CHANEL has supported the restoration of La Maman et la Putain (The Mother and the Whore), a film by Jean Eustache released in 1973 and awarded the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival the same year. This rare, liberated and emblematic example of French filmmaking from the 1970s was presented at the opening of the 75th Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday May 17th, 2022 and will be shown in cinemas from June 8th.
To mark the occasion, CHANEL unveils an exclusive conversation between the producer and distributor Charles Gillibert and the director Audrey Diwan. Together they look back at this masterpiece and discuss the extreme freedom of its director.
By participating in the restoration of La Maman et la Putain, and with its presence throughout the 75th Cannes Film Festival, CHANEL reaffirms its powerful links with the seventh art, initiated by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1930s.
