New territories, New essentials

Going on an adventure. Picking up the pace. Slowing down. Allowing oneself to take a side track. Over 150 years ago, as he was designing his first pair of shoes, John Lobb invented a new way of walking the world, elegant, comfortable and adapted to its time. For its Spring | Summer 2023 collection, the house is reinventing itself to pursue the s;pirit of its founder, which is still relevant today. John Lobb has created a family of models in line with contemporary masculine elegance and new lifestyles. A wardrobe made of different essentials, in which men can pick and choose according to the time of day and, above all, their wishes.

Classicism is not the same as it used to be, as demonstrated by the New Division range. The finishes are inspired by the streamlined codes of ‘Sur Mesure’, as shown in the details of the soles. The look is sophisticated. The walk is light thanks to discreet elastic bands nestled in the seams of a pair of loafers or Oxfords. A dance step is never far. A pair of derbies is thus declined in a two-tone version, recalling the outfits of London rockers and ska musicians.
The path of casualness continues with the Soft Skin family: derbies and moccasins in suede calfskin, with a thin, supple sole and outward-facing stitching that evokes the delicate craftsmanship of glovemakers.

Modern adventures take place in urban lands. The City Wanders line is inspired by the practical aesthetics of workwear. The derbies, desert boots and buckle boots are casual, and the colours are soft (ice brown, pearl grey). John Lobb’s craftsmen in the Northampton factory apply meticulousness to eco canvas models just as they do to leather ones.

With the Slow Life range, the house invites a nice stroll. Trainers and tennis shoes evoke the elegance of sport from different eras. One sole has the spike pattern of a golf shoe present in the house’s archives. These four ranges come together, united by the precision of the house. A lasting elegance, each model being repairable.
This season, the artisans of the Parisian bespoke atelier have come up with a “concept shoe”, revealing both their savoir-faire, in particular the work on weaving inspired by the Japanese technique of sashiko, and their audacity. John Lobb’s vision has never been so current.
