The iconic 5AC in a new shrunken size and as part of the Recicla family
The Baby 5AC
First seen in the Maison Margiela Spring Summer 2016 ‘Défilé’ collection, the now classic 5AC has been shrunken to its smallest size, the Baby 5AC.
The 5AC is the signature handbag of Maison Margiela continuously interpreted by the house in a variety of styles.
Its name is derived from ‘133t speak’, an early tech language that encodes the word ‘SAC’ – French for bag – into ‘5AC’.
The design language of the 5AC employs an apparently traditional, double-handled form that is twisted with discreet design details, the bag employs the technique of anonymity of the lining to reveal its internal structure: an extension of the lining, which transforms the bag’s shape to expose a larger pocket adorned with Maison Margiela’s four-point stitched label.
The Baby 5AC is available in a range of grained embossed leathers and in a goat and printed tweed, measures 13cm by 6cm and comes with a chain strap that allows the wearer to carry it in multiple individualistic ways.
