To continue the dialogue between Matthieu Blazy, Artistic Director of Fashion Activities, and Gabrielle Chanel, the CHANEL Fall Winter 2026 collection draws on the metaphor of the caterpillar and the butterfly. Contemporary, functional and feminine, it explores the many facets of CHANEL women, reinterprets classics and introduces new essentials.
Guided by the idea of movement, the collection presents a wardrobe spanning elegant and practical tailoring and shimmering, spectacular evening wear. Function and fiction, sensibility and seduction, day and night, masculine and feminine, nature and artifice, simplicity and extravagance: paradoxes–essential to the CHANEL style–echo and complete each other.
As a common thread throughout the collection, the suit varies in proportions, materials and styles. The CHANEL silhouette is softened with wide, shouldered suits and iridescent fabrics offer lightness and freedom of movement. Relaxed and fluid, the suit is reinterpreted: ribbed knit or woven with beads, tweed or gauze, Lurex or silicone in the manner of action painting.
The jacket takes centre stage. Its shapes are renewed: marine ribbed knit zip-up trucker jacket, tweed, wool or checked suede bomber, overskirt. The collar worn upright highlights an allure on the move.
Between exploration of menswear and experimentation, from the 1920s to today, the collection superposes styles and plays with scales. This is the case, for example, with the feminine, flowing silhouette created by a reimagined structured blazer paired with a silk and jersey skirt. Echoing Gabrielle Chanel’s first collections, it is worn below the waist. Disrupting the lines of the silhouette, Matthieu Blazy continues the direction initiated by the couturière with a trompe l’oeil effect.
A dialogue between natural and artificial, the Fall Winter 2026 collection is inspired by shapes and colours from the natural world and is characterised by bold textile experiments. Silk, jersey, gauze and shiny sequins echo the marvel they inspire. Flowers bloom on dresses, earrings and bags. Pastel and iridescent tones evoke the delicacy of Impressionist paintings.
Finally, accessories reflect these contrasts at the heart of the collection. Coloured resin jewels or tinted mother-of-pearl, as well as two-tone supple leather boots contribute to a poetic atmosphere. In an embossed leather version, the large flap bag introduced in October makes its second appearance.
