The Acne Studios collaboration with NBA basketball player Russell Westbrook is a Fall/Winter menswear capsule collection that comes after Westbrook starred in Acne Studios S/S 2019 global campaign. Westbrook is the point guard for the Houston Rockets and an eight-time NBA All-Star, but is also well-known for his off-court style and love of fashion. The special capsule collection reflects both his world and the distinctive character of Acne Studios, focusing on denim and its ability to express strength of personality.
In a palette of light blue acid wash denim, teal green acid wash denim, white and black, the capsule collection includes outerwear, shirts, jeans and shorts. The half-zip windbreaker gets a denim update and features a large patch pocket on the front and drawstring hem, while the denim utility vest has oversized pockets on the front and piping along the seams. The denim short-sleeve shirt takes its cues from sportswear with distinguishing seams down the wide placket. The jeans are straight-leg with five pockets and the denim shorts longer in length.
“Acne Studios is already an unbelievable brand that speaks for itself so I’m just happy and blessed to have a collection with them and to be able to show my creative side,” says Russell Westbrook.
“I have always been interested in the connection between sportswear and ready-to-wear, the dynamic between them especially. We chose Russell for a collaboration as he is an athlete we admire for many reasons,” says Jonny Johansson, Creative Director of Acne Studios.
