Roberta Benteler founded the beloved London-based e-commerce site Avenue 32 at just 26, having begun her career in private equity. As a fashion-lover working in The City, Roberta found herself frustrated by the limited choice available online, and sought to expand the offering of exciting collections to buy on your lunch break. When Avenue 32 launched in 2011, the site quickly became known for its unique international offering of up-and-comers and established designers with a unique point of view. Six years on, Avenue continues to offer a well-curated alternative to big-name with the impeccably dressed Roberta at its helm.

A street style favourite, German-born Roberta is a walking example of the well-curated new-and-established mix her business is known for, donning a creative mix of Preen, Peter Pilotto and Roksanda, along with up-and-comers like Jonathan Simkai, Marco de Vincenzo and Vivetta.

The last thing you saw that inspired you was ?

I had a private viewing of works by the late British artist Roy Oxlade at Alison Jacques Gallery recently. His incredible use of colour inspired me to embrace more colour myself (in my house and in my SS17 wardrobe, among other things).

If you could trade wardrobes with anyone, who would it be?

Mick Jagger’s stage costumes – hands down!!!

On a normal day we’ll find you wearing?

Saint Laurent high waisted jeans, Louis Vuitton boots, a Celine knit and a Saks Potts coat

What’s in your handbag?

I don’t carry one anymore if I can avoid it. My coat has big pockets that can hold my car & house key, phone, credit cards and Mac lipstick in crème cup.

Your favourite place to relax?

My family’s house in the Algarve, Portugal. It so green and peaceful out there. Everything smells like orange blossom and pine and the seafood is to die for!

What is your earliest fashion memory?

Trying on my mums red tights and stilettos in the late 80s. I must have been 4 years old.

If you could live in any era, when would you chose?

The 70s! I love the clothes, the music, and the hair! All about Disco Divas.

If you could be wearing any look from this season’s shows right now, what would it be? (and why?)

It would be Celine’s yellow cape dress. I definitely worship at the altar of Phoebe Philo and her SS17 collection is my all-time favourite.

Trend of the season?

Bright Colours and colour blocking!

Current favourite Instagram account?

I have recently moved into a new house and my life revolves around interior design at the moment, so I would say Galerie Patrick Seguin and Pierre Yovanovitch for furniture porn!
